“Great things never came from comfort zones.” -Unknown
By now, you've probably heard of the term "comfort zone". It's a place where we're comfortable. And while comfort presents one with a sense of calmness, it also acts as a barrier that prevents us from taking action and limits our steps towards personal growth and development.
The problem with comfort zones is If you never step out of them, it's likely that your circumstance won't change, and you'll continue ending up with the same results.
When you step outside of your comfort zone, you are setting up yourself for success in all areas of life. From health to money to success. Your dream life becomes closer within your reach.
Here are 5 Steps To Take Now To Step Out Of Your Comfort Zone And Into Your Power:
1. Become Aware of What’s Outside of Your Comfort Zone
What are things you want to do but, are afraid to because of potential disappointment or failure? Write out a list of those things.
Don't judge yourself, be 100% honest. If you don't know right away, that's ok. Give yourself grace. Often, we are so busy with life that we forget to take inventory of what we truly want for ourselves.
2. Get Clear About What You Are Aiming to Overcome
Getting clear on the things you need to work on brings you one step closer to where you want to be. Imagine living your dream life. Maybe you’re speaking in front of large crowds, traveling the world, treating patients, or designing couture gowns. Whatever it is, ask yourself what about that life seems scary or impossible to achieve?
Write out a list of those discomforts go deep and don’t hold back. Keep in mind that the primary emotion you are trying to overcome is fear. Think about what you can do to get past these fears.
3. Visualize Your Future
If there were no obstacles to reaching your goals, how would your life look? Close your eyes and imagine. Let your inner child come out. Dream big, and dream without limits. Create a vision board that you can hang in your room or carry around with you. Hang it in a place where you'll see it every day or save a picture of it as the screensaver on your phone. The goal is to get these images deeply etched into your subconscious mind, so they'll influence your thoughts and actions, and then be reflected in your life.
4. Take Baby Steps
Rather than trying to jump outside your comfort zone all at once, take small steps toward the thing you're trying to avoid. For example, if you're afraid of public speaking, start by telling yourself about a few things in the mirror, then record yourself talking and view the video of your speech. Watch your video and look for ways to improve it. Once you've done that a few times, you can start speaking to one or two people you know well (e.g., fellow family members or close friends). The next step is to share what you have with a small group of four to five people who are like the audience you want to talk to (e.g., college students or adults who work in your industry). Remember, it's important that practice sessions with trusted friends. Relax and have fun! After you've done a few practices like this, you'll be ready for your goal audience!
5. Hang out with GO GETTERS.
If you want to do more, you should start hanging out with people who are already doing what you want to do. If you want to be a great writer, then hang out with great writers; if you want to become rich, then spend time with people who are rich; if you want to become an excellent public speaker, then sit next to fantastic public speakers. Your behavior will inevitably start becoming more like theirs.
If you don’t know anyone doing things that you want to do, start networking. Set the intention that you want to connect with those types of individuals, and start showing up in rooms that they would likely be in. Overtime you will connect with someone who may know someone that may know someone. It’ll happen when you least expect it.
Queen, I challenge you to step outside your comfort zone. When you leave your comfort zone, you set yourself up for success in life. You build resilience by facing your fears and you become a bolder person because of them. It may seem like a scary thing to do at first, but the more you go out of your comfort zone, the easier it will be to do those things that scare you.
